    Overview:

    Sage Software is the North American business of UK-based The Sage Group plc. Sage Software supports the needs, dreams, and challenges of small and midsized businesses (SMB) by offering leading business management products and services. More than 2.8 million* North American small and midsized businesses currently rely on Sage Software applications.

    For more than 30 years, Sage Software has delivered easy-to-use, scalable, and customizable software for accounting, customer relationship management, human resources, merchant services, time tracking, and the specialized needs of the construction, distribution, healthcare, manufacturing, nonprofit, and real estate industries.

    Structure:

    Sage Software's parent company, The Sage Group, plc. (London: SGE.L), reaches a global client base that numbers 5.4 million SMB customers worldwide. It serves these businesses through more than 13,000 employees in operations in North America, the UK, France, Germany, India, Ireland, the Middle East, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, South Africa, Australia, and Southeast Asia. By the end of fiscal year 2006, the North American revenue of Sage Software was $652.2 million.

    Sage Software serves small companies with 25 or fewer employees, and midsized companies with up to 500 or more employees. Revenues of these companies are typically from $5 million to $100 million annually. In serving these companies, Sage Software encompasses the following divisions and brands, organized by customer focus:

    Business Management Division

    The Business Management Division serves small and medium-size businesses with core business management applications for accounting, enterprise resource management, customer relationship management, and other needs.
    Industry & Specialized Solutions Division
    The Industry and Specialized Solutions Division serves the industry-specific needs of the construction, real estate, and nonprofit industries as well as the employer-focused needs of SMBs.
    Payment Services Division
    The Payment Services Division provides merchant services for retail, business-to-business, and e-commerce businesses in processing customer transactions through credit cards, debit cards, and checks.
    Healthcare Division
    The Healthcare Division serves the business automation needs of medical practices with Integrated Electronic Health Records, EDI applications, and management systems including Intergy by Sage EHR.
     

    Key Corporate Milestones:

    2007

    Company evolves its customer-centric vision, establishing four company divisions focused on customer needs: Business Management Division, providing SMBs with a broad range of business management software and services to support core business processes throughout their operations; Industry & Specialized Solutions Division, providing support for SMBs with specialized business management needs, such as those in the construction, real estate, and nonprofit sectors, and providing support for employer needs such as human resource management and payroll services; Healthcare Division, providing integrated electronic health records and management systems to physicians’ practices; and Payment Solutions Division, providing merchant services for retail businesses.

    2006

    Company acquires Practice Services Division of Emdeon Corporation, forming Sage Software Healthcare Division, to provide integrated Electronic Health Records, EDI applications and management systems to more than 20,000 ambulatory care practices.

    2006

    Company acquires the Corum Mobile Division of Corum Corporation, a software consulting and development company based in Concord, ON, Canada that specializes in mobile customer relationship management (CRM) technology.

     

    Company acquires Master Builder and Contractor Anywhere, expanding its Construction and Real Estate software portfolio

     

    Company acquires Verus Financial Management, Inc. to offer merchant services for retail, business-to-business, and e-commerce businesses in processing customer transactions through credit cards, debit cards, and checks

    2005 Best Software changes its name to Sage Software, reflecting a unified company with its parent, The Sage Group, plc.
    2004 Company acquires ACCPAC International, adding accounting products for mid-market and a hosted CRM application
      Company acquires Federal Liaison Services, Inc. (FLS) of Dallas, TX, a single source provider of employer payroll and tax filing solutions
    2003

    Company acquires KTS Group, developers of nonprofit fundraising software applications

      Company-wide business partner programs initiated, including marketing, sales, and first Insights conference for business partners
      Company re-organizes into two main divisions: Small Business and Mid-Market
      Company acquires Timberline Software Corporation, establishing construction and real estate vertical markets, and Softline with its BusinessVision accounting products
    2001

    The company and its parent The Sage Group acquire: SalesLogix and ACT!, now part of Contact Management and CRM Solutions; Micro Information Products (MIP), now part of Nonprofit Solutions; and Platinum for Windows by Best

    2000 The Sage Group acquires Best Software. Ron Verni is named CEO of North American Operations. (Best Software is later named Sage Software in 2005)

    Distribution Channel:

    Sage Software products are licensed, sold, and supported by a network of value-added resellers (VARs) who must pass a stringent review process to be a part of this specialized distribution channel. Mass distribution products ACT! by Sage, Peachtree by Sage, and Simply Accounting by Sage are sold directly to the consumers or through retailers. Sage Software products are also used or recommended by 40,000 accounting and bookkeeping firms nationwide.
